Rich Baca is currently the director of technology at the United States Department of Agriculture, Veterinary Services (VS). VS is a premier animal health organization responsible for safeguarding our nation’s national herd and poultry by rapid detection, control, and eradication of emerging and threatening diseases. In his current role, he is responsible for building and managing the enterprise system and application architectures. During his tenure with VS he has been responsible for the delivery of animal health systems for animal health surveillance, emergency management, regulatory animal movement, laboratory diagnostics, and national animal identification. Currently he is establishing the organization’s strategy and direction for service-oriented architecture.
